Is Remote Online Notarization Legal?

YES

The Remote Online Notary Act was passed by Congress on January 1, 2020. This law authorizes Oklahoma Remote Notaries to perform online notarizations for signers located anywhere in the world. The Notary must be in Oklahoma physically during the notarial act.

Can a Notary give legal advice?

Notaries cannot give legal advice. Notaries are not attorney's. Please seek an attorney for legal advice.

Can A Notary refuse to notarize a document?

Yes

If the signer is being forced to sign a document against his or her own free will.

If the signer ID does not match the name on the document.

If the signer is not able to speak the same language as the notary.

If the signer is confused, or lacks the mental capacity to sign documents.

If the signer is unwilling to swear or affirm that the information in the document that require

a oath or affirmation.

If the signer only has a PHOTO Copy of the ID.

If the document is a vital record such as a birth certificate.

How much does it cost?

$25 includes 1 Notary Stamp.

Additional Stamp $10 each

Mobile Notary

$5 per Notary Stamp
